You can visit us during our opening hours or WhatsApp message us +351 917 667 514

Why do you need to know my height and weight?

So that we can select a horse that is most suitable for your size.

Why do you need to know my riding experience?

So that we can allocate one of our horses to suit your experience and arrange groups of riders according to length of ride and of similar experience.

I would like to book a ride, but I am unsure of our group's ability.

When booking please state the riding standard of your least experienced rider.
Tiffany’s riding standards may be classed as:
1. Non rider – Never ridden.
2. Beginner – Ridden occasionally when on holiday.
3. Novice – Have had some lessons. When riding can steer, stop, start, ride out and manage rising trot.
4. Intermediate – Can walk, trot and canter when required both out on rides or in the arena.
5. Advanced – Can walk, trot, canter and jump. Has ridden regularly or possibly owns a horse.

Which ride would be most suitable for me?

Pony Ride: ages 4 to 9 years with little or no riding experience
Farm Ride: aged 10 and over, max. weight 100kg, a short, easy introduction to horseback riding
Beginners Ride: aged 6 and over, max. weight 105kg, for those new to riding
Country Ride: aged 6 and over, max. weight 105kg, basic riding experience
Pathfinder Ride: aged 8 and over, max. weight 95kg, for riders with a bit more confidence and skill
Safari Ride: aged 10 and over, max. weight 90kg, for experienced riders
Adventure Ride: aged 12 and over, max. weight 90kg, for confident, experienced riders

Why is the Beginner's Ride recommended for me?

If you have never ridden before, or need a basic refresher, the instruction will be beneficial to your comfort and safety and our horses wellfare.

I can ride, but my friend has never ridden before. Can we go out together?

Yes, you may book in a Country Ride that will accompany the hour ride out of the Beginner’s Ride. The pace will not surpass your friend’s ability.

I can ride, but my friend has never ridden before. Will we be able to canter on the Beginner's Ride?

There is NO cantering on the Beginner’s Ride. Should you be more experienced than your friends, and unwilling to ride at their pace, Tiffany’s suggests that you book a separate ride more suited to your ability

What should I wear?

We realise that you are on holiday so any long trousers and enclosing shoes such as trainers are acceptable.
We have modern helmets in all sizes and half chaps, the use of these is included in the price of the ride.
A small selection of boots are also available for client’s use, but we may not have any that fit. Please bring your own socks!
Raincoats are also available for wet weather riding.
If you do have your own riding helmet, we recommend that you do bring it.

Do I have to wear a riding helmet?

For anyone riding our horses it is an insurance requirement.
Included in our prices is the use of our riding helmets that conform to CE EN 1384:2017 in all sizes from 000 to 5, including ½ sizes.

I haven't hired a car. How can I get to the stables?

By Taxi:
Although most of the town centres have a taxi rank, we do recommend that Taxis are booked in advance with a phone call. Here are a few numbers that might help, international phone code +351:
Dario: 917 210 311
Cooperativa Lagos: 282 763 587
Arade: 282 460 610, 967 238 507, 967 238 506, 919 622 294

By Uber/Bolt
Please check with them that they have the correct entrance by our sign on the EN125, as they seem unable to find our main entrance and might try to drop you off at an indistinct location on our neighbours track.

By Bus:
Our closest Bus Stop is ” Belo Horizonte” on the EN125: Onda Timetable

What payment do you accept?

Cash in Euros or PayPal

Why Won’t I See Horses on Algarve Beaches… and Why is the Countryside the Real Hidden Gem

The idea of riding a horse along the shore at sunrise, sunset or indeed anytime is a romantic one – but here in the Algarve, whatever the time of day, it’s rarely possible and generally not permitted.
These are the main reasons why…
Most beaches are off-limits to horses due to a mix of public safety concerns, difficult access, and environmental protection. In the warmer months, beaches are crowded with sunbathers, swimmers, water sports, and beach games. Even the calmest horses can become unsettled in this busy, unpredictable environment.
Access is another challenge. Reaching the coast often means riding along and crossing busy roads and slippery cobbled streets, with no space for support vehicles like horse trailers or emergency transport. Once there, suitable sand is limited to short low-tide windows  –  and even then, the footing can be unsafe for both horse and rider.
It’s also not the place for beginners. If you can’t ride confidently before reaching the beach, you won’t suddenly gain the balance and control needed to manage an open shoreline. Even experienced riders may find the wide, exposed space unsettling.
On top of this, many Algarve beaches are designated Blue Flag or Natura 2000 zones – protected areas where horses are not allowed due to the potential to damage delicate dune ecosystems and contaminate sand and water through waste.
The good news? The countryside is where the real magic happens. Just inland, you’ll find peaceful trails through cork forests, olive groves, rolling hills, and farmland – offering safety, serenity, and a far more authentic riding experience.
At Tiffany’s, we focus on low-impact, nature-based rides that celebrate the beauty of the land and the bond between horse and rider. Whether you’re experienced or a total beginner, the trails of the Algarve are waiting for you – just not to the beach.

My friends and I want to do the Safari Ride. What recommendations and suggestions do you have?

The Safari ride into the forest is suitable for intermediate or advanced riders due to the pace (canter). However, Safari rides for novice to intermediate riders can be booked and will enjoy the experience of local Algarvean countryside with its wild flowers and fauna, and, of course, your guide is experienced and can answer any questions you may have regarding riding, your horses, the countryside as you see it or the local culture.

I am thinking of booking your Adventure Ride. What recommendations and suggestions do you have?

Our Adventure Ride starts at 10am. going north of the riding centre into the National Forest. We stop for lunch at about 1pm for an hour and a half, riding back to Tiffany’s in the afternoon. We consider the Adventure Ride to be strenuous as you will be in the saddle for five hours. It is suitable for Intermediate and Advanced riders, however, we do suggest that you have previously ridden at Tiffany’s beforehand to ensure your comfort on the horse that we have selected for you.

Do you ride Western at all?

No. Our horses are not trained for it and neither do we have the required tack.

My child has a disability (physical or mental) are the rides or lessons suitable for them?

We require prior confirmation from the rider’s doctor that they are allowed to ride without the presence of a physiotherapist or psychologist. We have ample volunteers to cope with individual disabilities in a safe environment. Our therapeutic horses have been chosen for their willing disposition and ease of movement. Tiffany is a qualified hippotherapy instructor and for any special requirements or queries, please contact her directly.

Why do you not cater for my 3 year old toddler?

Our insurers consider a 3 year old too young to ride.

I am pregnant. Can I ride at Tiffany's?

No. Our insurance company does not cover for pregnant persons.

Why are there no rides over lunchtime?

The horses have to have their lunch as well as us! We do not take rides out between 1pm and 3pm.

How can I volunteer at Tiffany's?

We’re always delighted to welcome enthusiastic volunteers who want to be part of life at Tiffany’s Riding Centre. Whether you have experience with horses or are simply eager to learn, there are many ways to get involved – from helping with lessons and caring for the horses, to supporting everyday tasks around the yard and farm.

Our volunteers come from near and far, some former students returning to give back, others joining through Erasmus or seeking a meaningful experience in a friendly, horse-focused environment. What they all share is a love for horses, teamwork, and the special spirit of Tiffany’s.

If you’re interested in joining us as a volunteer, simply get in touch at enquiries@teamtiffanys.com. We look forward to hearing from you!
